Laparoscopic or key-hole surgery involves making a small cut into the umbilicus so that a tiny telescopic instrument with an attached camera can be inserted to examine your pelvic organs and to look for any anomaly, pathology or damage. With laparoscopy, the gynaecologist can get a better close-up view of the pelvic anatomy and safely remove ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids and even the uterus. Other benefits of laparoscopic surgery are shorter hospital stays, less post-op discomfort, reduced infection, a faster recovery and smaller aesthetically-pleasing surgical scars.

Hysteroscopy is a minor surgical procedure that may be performed in a day surgery centre with or without anaesthesia. It involves inserting a thin, telescope-like device through the vagina and cervix to visualise the inside of the womb. It enables the gynaecologist to diagnosis or treat uterine problems simultaneously. The procedure poses low risk for most women.
